Jacob Hübner
(1761-1826)

I have very little information about Jacob Hübner other than that he was German and had a keen interest in lepidoptera.

He described and named many Saturniidae genera and species as well as many Sphingidae genera and species.

Hübner continued with Linnaeus' romantic/marriage theme and described one European Catocala species, dilecta in 1808 ("dilecta" means single out, value, esteem, prize, love) , and four North American species: amatrix Sweetheart underwing, amica Girlfriend underwing, antinympha Wayward Nymph, and ultronia
