Amatrix has reddish pink hindwings with a relatively narrow inner black band. There is a dark dash in the forewing basal area. Concumbens has a "fatter" inner black band and a uniformly grey forewing with faint markings.

Cara and its subspecies cara carissima both have dark purplish-brown (green tint) forewings but Cara lacks the light grey-brown patches near the apex. Both have hindwing inner black bands that reach the inner margin which is dark grey.

Marmorata has distinctive dark arc from the costa through the renifrom spot to just below the apex. The hindwing band is scalloped.

Aholibah has elongated double teeth (two upper; one lower) in the postmedial line. There is considerable dark scaling along the inner margin of the hindwing.

Allusa has a very dark reniform area and upper reaches of the postmedial line extend toward the apex. Californica is very similar to allusa but reniform area is not as dark and upper reaches of pm line extend towar the head instead of toward the wing apex.

Cleopatra has pale, bluish-grey forewings and a very narrow and truncated hw median band.

Praeclara has grey-green forewing with faint markings except for low basal dash and another dash slightly higher up near the anal angle. The hw outer margin is truncated and followed by a dot. Grynea has a strong greenish cast to the forewing with an orangy-brown bar along most of the inner margin. The hw outer bar is continuous but indented. The orange fringe is heavily barred.

Sordida tends to be very dark around the forewing inner and outer margins. The hw outer band is truncated and followed by a dot. Note predominantly grey-black fringe except at apex and anal angle. Texarkana has lighter median area, brown subreniform and much brown scaling in subterminal area. The hw outer band is continuous but indented.

Micronympha has a dark arc running from the costa through the reniform spot to the outer margin just below the apex. Dulciola has light grey forewings with faint markings except for a double black antemedial line.
