Sphingidae of Aruba

Although I believe these "tribal" checklists contain only species from Aruba, there may be some omissions. Probably most of the species known from Venezuela also fly in Aruba.

This page is inspired by Ilse Knijn who has sent the images of Xylophanes chiron nechus and Pseudosphinx tetrio. I think the subspecies for chiron in Aruba is probably nechus, but I am not sure.

Ilse writes, "A couple of years ago I had the Frangipani Tree full of the Tetrio sphinx larva. Never seen that before, and the next day all of them were gone. Mysterious animals….."
