Specodina abbottii

Sphecodina abbottii larva, Almonte, 20 miles west of Ottawa, courtesy of Sherleen Smithson.

Sherleen sent me this beautiful image of a Sphecodina abbottii larva and writes, "'Gini' was discovered on Virginia Creeper, July 2004, but there's lots of Poison Ivy and Grape Vines in the area, as well.

"We live just outside Almonte, Ontario, which is twenty miles west of Ottawa. Gini is the prettiest Abbott's caterpiller that I've seen (total three)."

Sherleen also reports several One-eyed Sphinx (Smerinthus cerisyi) near her home on June 4, 2005.
