DISTRIBUTION:

Cautethia insolita, [wingspan: ], flies in La Vega in the Dominican Republic on the track from El Escucharo to Constanza, environ 9km north of Constanza.

FLIGHT TIMES:

Cautethia insolita adults nectar at flowers. The Holotype was taken April 15, 2016 at an elevation of 1820m by J Haxaire & C. De Soto Molinari.

ECLOSION:

Pupae probably wiggle to surface from subterrqnean chambers just prior to eclosion.

SCENTING AND MATING:

Females call in the males with a pheromone released from a gland at the tip of the abdomen.

EGGS, LARVAE, PUPAE:

Larvae possibly feed on Chiococca alba Exostema.
