Ceratomia paltingi (forewing length: male: 45mm; female: 49mm ),
flies in Mexico: Oaxaca; at elevations of 1828-1932m.
Ceratomia paltingi adults fly in July. There may be other flight months.
Pupae probably wiggle to surface from subterranean chambers just prior to eclosion.
SCENTING AND MATING:
Females call in the males with a pheromone released from a gland at the tip of the
abdomen. Adults, which fly at dusk, nectar at a variety of flowers.

The species name is honourific for John Palting.
