DISTRIBUTION:

Euryglottis davidianus (wingspan: approximately 80mm) flies in
Ecuador: Loja, specimen type locality; and in
western Peru: (Lima: Matucanana, 1800m (HM)).

Similar to Euryglottis aper, but easily distinguished by the head paler; yellow abdominal spots smaller; forewing upperside with subbasal and discal lines straighter. CATE.

FLIGHT TIMES:

Euryglottis davidianus adults fly in November-December in Ecuador and possibly in March and April and at other times. Hubert Mayer reports a January flight in western Peru.

ECLOSION:

Pupae probably wiggle to surface from subterranean chambers just prior to eclosion.

SCENTING AND MATING:

Females call in the males with a pheromone released from a gland at the tip of the abdomen.
