flies in Brazil (specimen type locality). Grandis is no longer recognized as a valid
species. The original specimen labelled as grandis turned out
to be a female fosteri which flies in Paraguay and southern Brazil.
Manduca fosteri adults fly
Pupae probably wiggle to surface from subterranean chambers just prior to eclosion.
SCENTING AND MATING:
Females call in the males with a pheromone released from a gland at the tip of the
abdomen. Adults take nectar from flowers.
