DISTRIBUTION:

Manduca reducta flies in Peru, the specimen type locality and in Bolivia, usually at middle elevations: Yocumo [Yacuma] (300-800m); and the road between Caranavi and Yocumo [Yacuma] (1000-1700m); and also Alto Palmar (1100m); and El Limbo (2200m), Chapare.

M. reducta can be distinguished from M. contracta by reducta's narrower, more elongate and pointed forewings.

FLIGHT TIMES:

Manduca reducta adults probably fly as several broods in Peru.

ECLOSION:

Pupae probably wiggle to surface from subterranean chambers just prior to eclosion.

SCENTING AND MATING:

Females call in the males with a pheromone released from a gland at the tip of the abdomen.
