DISTRIBUTION:

Manduca sexta caestri flies in Chile (specimen type locality).

The following two images were sent to me by Nicolas Palacios Prado, PhD. I believe they are Manduca sexta caestri (Bill Oehlke).

FLIGHT TIMES:

Manduca sexta caestri adults have been taken in November (NPP). There are probably additional flight months.

ECLOSION:

Pupae probably wiggle to surface from subterranean chambers just prior to eclosion.

SCENTING AND MATING:

Females call in the males with a pheromone released from a gland at the tip of the abdomen. Adults probably take nectar from flowers.

EGGS, LARVAE, PUPAE:

Larvae feed on ??
