Hyalophora euryalus March 29, 2001

I was pulling into my driveway yesterday morning, and was about to drive over what I thought was a big leaf fallen from my neighbor's sycamore, when my brain processed what my eyes were seeing, and I stopped just in time to avoid running over what turned out to be a female Euryalus.

Outside of a museum, I've never seen such a huge moth, and it was very gratifying to find photos on your Web site that helped me positively identify it and learn more about its history.

I stuck it on the woodpile in my side yard, and this morning my daughter discovered the same, or a nearly identical, moth in the same place on our driveway.

Anyway, since you go in for photos of such things, I've attached a few of mine.

Thanks for the wonderful resource.
