DISTRIBUTION:
Neogene reevei
(wingspan: ) flies in
Paraguay;
Argentina: Cordoba, Entre Rios,
La Rioja, Salta, Santiago del Estero and Tucuman; and
Brazil.
Sphinx baruta Berg, 1883, Argentina, is same as Neogene
reevei;
Sphinx cossoides Rothschild, 1894, Brazil, is same as
Neogene reevei;
minor B. P. Clark, 1938, Paraguay, is same as
Neogene reevei.
It has been taken at elevations from 21m to 1056m.
FLIGHT TIMES:
Neogene reevei adults
fly in March in Santiago del Estero (FP). Reports exist for
January in Cordoba and February in Tucuman.
ECLOSION:
Pupae probably wiggle to surface from
subterranean chambers just prior to eclosion.
SCENTING AND MATING:
Females call in the males with a
pheromone released from a gland at the tip of the
abdomen. Adults probably nectar at a variety of flowers.

Larvae feed on
